Specialist tax advice for mining operators, investors and multinationals navigating complex fiscal regimes across Africa.
Royalty regimes, corporate income tax, VAT, rehabilitation obligations, export incentives and transfer pricing all interact in ways that vary significantly from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Layer in the recent wave of legislative reform across the continent – Nigeria’s new Tax Act is one example, but far from the only one, and the compliance and planning burden on mining groups has never been heavier.
We work with mining operators, exploration companies, project developers and their investors to build tax positions that are commercially sound, defensible under scrutiny and structured for the realities of operating across African markets.
Royalty regimes across Africa are changing. We help you understand the rates, the valuation bases, the collection mechanics and the impact on your project economics before the numbers hit your model.
We help you build and document tax positions that hold up to authority scrutiny, from intercompany arrangements to rehabilitation fund structures and export incentive claims.
Mining projects are long-term and capital-intensive. Our advice reflects that, focused on what matters operationally, financially and structurally over the life of a project.
We are African and international tax specialists with teams across South Africa, Mauritius, Ireland and the wider region. Our advisers combine Big Four leadership experience with deep, practical knowledge of how African tax systems apply to capital-intensive extractive industries.
Mining projects do not run to typical corporate timelines. Neither does our advice. We engage quickly, go deep where it matters and stay with you through the complexity.
